The bush cabins offer rustic accommodation in the heart of New England’s adventure wilderness. Nestled beside the hurrying headwaters of the Little Styx River, they’re an ideal base from which to fish, 4WD or walk the remote gorges and forests. Each can sleep up to 12 guests. Hot showers, flushing toilets and wood heating provide for a comfortable and relaxing camping style stay in some of Australia’s most picturesque high country.

It is an ideal location for those who want to escape from it all and enjoy the tranquillity of the bush. Guests can spend their days fly-fishing for the elusive rainbow trout in the clear mountain streams or bushwalking in 55,000ha of remote wilderness. You won’t find many bush cabins that make such perfect fly-fishing accommodation, with plenty of walking trails and private trout streams at your disposal.

Fishing

Although small, the Little Styx River was once described as Australia’s most picturesque trout stream. It plunges through remote canyons, shaded by towering snow gums. The cabins provide an excellent base from which to search the wilder gorges for the elusive trout.

Either spin or fly-fishing is permitted down-stream of the cabins. Worm fishing is not permitted. It is strongly advised that guests seek permission to fish other rivers in the area. Some rivers will be signposted if fishing is not permitted.

Guided fly-fishing trips can be organised at Moffat Falls, these are private streams that offer the best population of rainbow trout.
